The Lichtsprechgerät In 1935 Carl Zeiss developed this amazing machine that uses Infra Red (IR) to transmit a voice signal to a receiving station up to 5 km away. (About 3 miles) Note this can also be connected to the standard field telephone (FF33) by the 3 terminals on the control box, so the field phone can be the voice source. This is a "work in progress" for me, so if you have any parts at all for this equipment (including items you already see here) please email me at rob@fieldgear.org Thanks! I am also interested in serial numbers for the optical head, leather case, & Amplifier. Please email me your data. Owners will not be identified. Click here for data already collected. As of July 2011, I have now managed to obtain two sets of equipment (ie heads & amplifiers). Over the coming year (or 2!) my intention is to have these restored to an operating pair. I will keep you up to date on progress at "The Lichtsprecher Project"
The Amplifier
This unit has the 3 letter code "blc" for Carl Zeiss. The change to letter code appears to have been in 1941. All 1940 examples (or earlier) observed = Zeiss, All 1941 examples = blc Optical Head This unit has the Carl Zeiss logo. The heads seem to have transitioned to the letter codes during 1940. Both Zeiss & blc have been observed on 1940 dated heads.

This is a very small sample of what could be out there. On the heads alone, does this mean over 21000 have been produced, (highest - lowest serial) or were serial ranges done in blocks by year? (This seems more likely) More data may answer the question...
